Calacatta Oro comes from the legendary quarries in the Carrara region, where it has been mined since Roman times. It is one of the rarest marbles in the world — only a few blocks meet the criteria for the oro (gold) grade, characterised by intensely golden veining on a snow-white base. The origin of the colour: iron oxides introduced into the limestone structure over millions of years of geological processes. Calacatta Oro adorned the interiors of the Palace of Versailles and today is the choice of the most demanding luxury designers.
